In a place that is not a place (a wasteland, a large square), we gather: us, you, all those who once left or who one day will leave (the actors, a few accomplices, and the
audience). Among remnants of the city and memories of homes left along the way, a group of characters — the Kamchàtka’s — prepare a welcoming space, a place to rest
before continuing onward.
Through music, images, and simple actions, we share a collective experience that unites past, present, and future. A blanket, a soup, a piece of bread, and memories
that speak to us of what was, what is, and what will come.
The projection of a story, a short film, reveals a past that is, in truth, the story of this very moment.
And everything transforms into a cathartic act: around the central space, we celebrate together, walking symbolically under the stars, accompanied by epic music.
We shout to the sky that we celebrate the courage of those who left, and that only together, like an overflowing procession, do we celebrate ourselves.
A journey of encounter, memory, and celebration that invites everyone to participate, accompany, and be part of this collective experience.
Kamchàtka also creates Site Specific Projects and Workshops
Kamchàtka is een makers collectief van verschillende nationaliteiten en disciplines. De leden ontmoetten elkaar voor het eerst in Barcelona in 2006.
Gedreven door dezelfde interesses en maatschappelijke thema’s begonnen ze onder de artistieke leiding van Adrian Schvarzstein, intensief te trainen in groepsimprovisatie in de straten van Barcelona en deden ze onderzoek naar het onderwerp immigratie.
Barcelona... een ideale stad om de confrontatie aan te gaan met een samenleving vol tegenstrijdigheden en met diepgaande integratieproblemen.
Sinds 2007 heeft Kamchàtka een eigen poëtische taal gecreëerd rond een trilogie over menselijke migratie - Kamchàtka (2007), Habitaculum (2010) en Fugit (2014) en hebben ze opgetreden in meer dan 30 verschillende landen in Europa, Azië en Amerika.
Hun laatste creatie Alter (2021) is een voorstelling op locatie die nauw verbonden is met het landschap en de interactie met het publiek.
Kamchàtka biedt ook de workshop Migrar, een unieke menselijke ervaring rond de voorstelling Kamchàtka, evenals een indoorproductie met een symfonieorkest naar keuze – Music for Wild Beasts - een benadering van klassieke muziek voor alle publiek.
